Wanted: Rowers for Team Up for Clemson Regatta

Entries are now being accepted for the inaugural year of what could become a unique, annual town-gown festival – a rowing regatta that pairs highly-trained student-athletes and determined amateurs in a race to raise funds for local charities and the Clemson’s women’s rowing team.

State approves 3 percent pay increase for employees

The S.C. State Employee Pay Plan for Fiscal Year 2013 authorizes state agencies to implement a 3 percent general increase for all permanent faculty and permanent classified and unclassified staff retroactive to the first pay date on or after July 1, 2012. Due to the timing of the notification received from the state, the increase was not included in the July 2012 paychecks for 12-month faculty and staff.

Fuel tanks being removed from Douthit Hills area

Crews will soon begin work to remove 28 underground tanks that were used for heating oil storage in the Douthit Hills housing area located behind Clemson House. Due to use of heavy machinery and large dump trucks, pedestrians and vehicle traffic should avoid this area if possible.

Water quality report now available online

The 2011 Water Quality Report on the quality of drinking water supplied by the Clemson University water system is now available. The report covers the period from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2011.

State changes mileage reimbursement rate

The new State Appropriations bill passed by the S.C. Legislature includes a proviso that changes the mileage reimbursement rate for state employees. Effective July 1, 2012, the rate is $0.555 per mile, the current rate established by the IRS.
