Some of Clemson University’s most-honored writers and poets will read in a campus benefit for Loaves & Fishes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the Self Auditorium at the Strom Thurmond Institute. The list of performers includes Keith Lee Morris, Jillian Weise, Steve Katz, John Pursley III, Alex Kudera, Mike Pulley, Lindsey Jones and Angelina Oberdan.
Clemson will host the ACC Cross Country Championships Saturday, Oct. 29, at Musser Farm (604 South Friendship Road, Seneca).

Prashanth Elangovan, 21, a graduate student in mechanical engineering, died Oct. 24 at Oconee Medical Center. His death was a result of accidental drowning while swimming with friends at Twelve Mile Beach on Lake Hartwell.
Clemson’s own head football coach Dabo Swinney is in the running for Liberty Mutual’s Coach of the Year. Swinney is currently in second place to Kansas State’s Bill Snyder.

Lake Hartwell has fallen below elevation 652 MSL which has triggered the “Moderate Drought” phase of Clemson University’s Drought Management Plan. The amount of precipitation during the past 12 months has been 23 percent less than normal, creating a 13.63-inch deficit and resulting in the low water level of Lake Hartwell where Clemson draws its potable water. The following voluntary water conservation measures through reductions in irrigation and personal use will now be put into effect.
