Fighting fire with design

Retired professor Don Collins spends his days melding his two professions — architecture and firefighting.

Retired Clemson University professor Don Collins now spends many of his weeks traveling across North America working with fire departments and architect’s offices as a design consultant on fire station projects. Collins, who served a 33-year tenure at Clemson teaching design, also during that time served as a firefighter for the Clemson University Fire Department.

Clemson students offer helping hands down the street and across the world

This past school year, more than 100 students went on alternative spring breaks to serve communities across the country, such as in Appalachia.

Service can be found in every nook and cranny on campus and off. Student organizations, undergraduate research, class projects, service-learning, alternative breaks, mission trips, faculty efforts — through all these groups, service is at Clemson’s core.

How students honor their peers’ lives after tragedy

Every time a Clemson student passes away, the entire student body is affected. Students have always joined together to actively memorialize their peers, and now, through numerous memorial projects, students’ lives are being commemorated by their peers more than ever.
